Iranian ‘Chauffeur’ to drive in Belgium

Iranian short flick ‘Chauffeur’ has been selected to compete at the 24th edition of the Brussels Short Film Festival (BSFF) in Belgium.

Written and directed by Reza Nejati, the short flick is about a teenage boy named Navid who is not interested in learning to drive, but his father wants to teach him anyway.

The father’s ignorance and false beliefs make his son go through a crisis, which costs him an innocent man’s life.

The list of the short flick includes Mohammad-Amin Taheri, Ali Baqeri, and Omid Salimi.

Produced by Hossein Kakavand, ‘Chauffeur’ won Golden Butterfly for Best Short Fiction Film at the 33rd International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran.

The BSFF is listed among Oscars qualifying festivals and the winner of the main prize of the international section will be eligible for the Oscars.

The BSFF has long been working on the promotion of art, particularly cinema. The festival provides a platform to make possible exchanges between the public and professionals of the film industry.

The upcoming edition of the festival has been postponed several times due to the condition caused by the coronavirus.

The 24th BSFF is set to be held on August 28-September 5, 2021.

This edition of the event will also screen ‘Asho’ and ‘Exam’ from Iran.
